Canada’s new polymer $20 bill will be put into circulation today. The polymer bill is made of a plastic like material which makes the bill harder to counterfeit. In addition, the polymer bills are expected to last 2.5 times longer than the old $20 bills that were made of cotton-based paper.
The new $20 bill features Canadian National Vimy Memorial – a timely release with Remberance Day only a few days away.
The $50 and $100 polymer bills were released in November 2011 and March 2012 respectively. The $5 and $10 notes should be released before the end of 2013.
